A founder story

In 2016, he couldn't get out of bed. Now his creams are in thousands of Australian homes.

Rhys Mitchell, better known as Mitch, was medically retired from the Australian and New Zealand Defence Forces. He started making creams on his kitchen bench because nothing on the shelf did much for him. This is what happened next:

2016 The year everything stopped

He had been fit enough to serve. Eighteen months later he could not manage the stairs.

Mitch was medically retired from the Australian and New Zealand Defence Forces in 2016. Serious physical injuries, and post traumatic stress on top of them.

What that looked like day to day was not dramatic. It was a lounge room with the curtains still shut at two in the afternoon. It was working out the least painful way to stand up, then deciding it was not worth standing up for. At his worst he was largely bed ridden.

The hardest part was not the discomfort itself. It was how small the day got. You stop going to things. You stop being the person who helps other people carry the heavy end.

A quiet Australian lounge room with the curtains drawn in the afternoon

If any of that sounds familiar, you already understand the next part better than most people do.

2017 The turn

He was not trying to start a business

Mitch had been through the chemist aisle the same way you probably have. Tubes and sprays and patches, most of them promising the world on the front of the box.

Some did a bit. Most did nothing he could notice. A few were so greasy or so strongly perfumed that he stopped using them before he found out either way.

So he started making his own at home. Reading about ingredients, ordering small amounts, mixing batches on the kitchen bench and writing down what went in each one. The early ones were rough. He kept going because he had the time and, frankly, not much else to do with it.

2018 It left the kitchen

Then other people started asking for some

First it was mates from service. Then their wives, and their fathers, and the bloke down the road with the knee. Word travelled the way it does in a small community, which is to say slowly and then all at once.

Mitch started taking it to the Cairns markets. A folding table, a handful of tubes, and a lot of conversations with strangers about what hurt and when. That went on for years before there was ever a website.

Those market conversations turned out to be the most valuable thing he ever did, and not for the reason you would think. Standing there week after week, he noticed that people were not describing one problem. They were describing four or five completely different ones.

Four different people, four different problems

This is the pattern that shaped everything. Four creams, four different sets of people, almost nobody describing the same thing. Have a look through whichever one sounds closest to you.

This cream is amazing on my osteoarthritis in my knees and hips. I have worked out i need to use it first thing in the morning then at lunch to get me through the day with no pain and a 'normal' feeling within my joints.

Now Why there are four

One cream cannot do everything, so he made four

Here is the thing most brands in this category will never say out loud. If you only sell one product, you have to claim it works for everyone and everything. You have no other option.

You have heard that claim before. It is probably why there is a tube in your bathroom drawer that you used twice.

Mitch could not make that claim honestly, because he knew from his own body that a tight, cramping shoulder and a heavy head are not the same problem and do not want the same thing. So instead of one cream that gestures at everything, there are four, each built around a different sensation.

The four Peacemaker Healing creams together

Heat Cream

Deep, spreading warmth

For muscles that feel tight, stiff or knotted up. Most people use it before and after activity, or at the end of a long day on their feet. Works best on warm skin, straight after a shower. It is the top seller.

Cold Cream

Sharp, clearing cool

For heads that feel heavy and boxed in. Goes on the temples, forehead, under the nose, chest and throat. The menthol and peppermint give that cold fresh air sensation within seconds.

OG Cream

Neutral, everyday

The original and the all rounder. Light, fast absorbing and not greasy, for everyday aches and general comfort anywhere on the body. This cream is your base cream, always use first.

Physio Cream

Slow, massaging

Built for working an area properly with your hands rather than a quick rub in. Shea butter, aloe vera, eucalyptus and sweet almond oil make it glide, so it suits massage and deep tissue work.

All four share the same hemp seed oil base and all four are $59.90. Four creams, one philosophy: all natural ingredients, no artificial colours or fragrance, made in Cairns.

So which one is yours?

Four creams for four different kinds of discomfort. Answer a few questions about where it bothers you and how it feels, and we will point you to the one built for it.

Where the money goes

He still answers the calls himself

Rhys Mitchell, founder of Peacemaker Healing

Peacemaker Healing runs as a profit for purpose business. It provides both practical and financial support to veterans, first responders and their families affected by post traumatic stress.

It is the reason Peacemaker Healing exists. Mitch knows precisely what the months after a medical discharge look like, because he lived them on a couch with the curtains shut.

He is still the person on the other end of the phone. If you want to know how the creams work, which one suits what you are dealing with, or how to use it properly, you are talking to Mitch.

Before you start

Questions we get a lot

How do I know which one is right for me?

That is exactly what the quiz is for, and it is the honest answer to the most common question we get. It asks where it bothers you and how it feels, then points you to the cream built around that sensation. It takes about a minute.

What do they actually feel like on the skin?

Heat gives you a deep spreading warmth. Cold is a sharp cooling sensation with a strong menthol aroma. OG is close to neutral, light and fast absorbing. Physio is richer and glides, because it is made for massaging an area rather than a quick rub in.

What is in them?

All natural ingredients on an aloe vera and hemp seed oil base, with no artificial colours or fragrance. Across the range you will find aloe vera, turmeric, arnica montana, boswellia serrata, shea butter, menthol, camphor, peppermint and eucalyptus oils depending on the cream. Every full ingredient list is on each product page.

Can I use more than one?

Plenty of people do, on different parts of the body or at different times of day. Heat and OG together is the most common pairing, for their combination of targeted inflammation support and deep, long-lasting warmth.

Are they safe to use every day?

They are topical balms made for regular use as part of a normal routine. External use only, keep away from your eyes, and wash your hands after use. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, check with your doctor first.

What if it does nothing for me?

Send it back within 90 days and you will get your money back. Mitch handles those personally.
